A suspect died after being shot by officers during the response to a domestic incident in Upper St. Clair Sunday evening.Allegheny County police said dispatchers were alerted around 2:50 p.m. to reports of a domestic incident between the man and a family member at a house in the 100 block of Lamar Road.Police attempted to take the man into custody on an involuntary commitment order, at which point he allegedly brandished a knife and threatened officers. SWAT was called to the scene.Police say, at 8:39 p.m., the suspect came out of the house with a knife and approached officers. “He refused their commands, continued approaching officers with a knife in her hands and several of the officers ended up firing at the subject,” said Superintendent Christopher Kearns of Allegheny County Police.The man was pronounced dead at the scene, county police said.Court documents show Christopher Lee Shepherd was charged with aggravated assault in this incident. Police say Shepherd tried to stab officers by sticking a knife through the plywood of the house and refused to cooperate.County homicide detectives are investigating.
