CLOQUET — Four people are dead, including a person authorities believe to have shot the other three, at the Super 8 motel near Big Lake Road and Minnesota Highway 33.
The Cloquet Police Department secured the area on Monday evening after issuing a shelter-in-place warning regarding an active shooter around 7 p.m.
Commander Wade Rasch of the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office told the News Tribune that authorities found three people dead in the Super 8 motel at 121 Big Lake Road.
In addition, officers on the scene “located one deceased person whom they believe to be the shooter,” police said in a news release. The shelter-in-place warning was lifted around 8:30 p.m.

No other information was immediately available about the shooting, the suspect or the victims.
“This is an active scene; please continue to stay clear of the area until further notice,” police said.
